I graduated from college in 1990. Then I worked as a mechanical engineer doing tests of oil piping systems and reservoirs
for EXXON in Panama. It was a tough job, I would stay working until late, and would have to wake up early, and the work was
very physical. I had a serious crew to manage and I did it with enthusiasm. During that time I grew a lot in several aspects
of real life that I had not had the time to encounter in college. Later I got the job of my dreams at that time, at IBM Panama.
This job played a pivotal role in further professional expansions. I was responsible for marketing and customer
service of IBM RISC 6000. I also worked for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as his administrative assistant, a
very valuable experience. During the evening I would teach at two universities in Panama, or do occassional engineering jobs
for several engineering companies. I founded my own engineering company at the beginning of 1992 and did a couple of successful
contracts with it. It was a great period to encounter myself and to find the way to the USA through a Fulbright fellowship
(granted to me in 1991 by the United States Information Agency of the Department of State).
